A Great Chance to Give of Yourself

If you've ever considered becoming a potential bone marrow donor (or even if you haven't), now's a great time to join the National Marrow Donor Program Registry. Typically it costs around $50 to join the registry (to pay for the tissue type testing), but from now until September 22, NASCAR is covering the costs. All you have to do is fill out a questionnaire to verify that you're able to be a potential donor, register online, then you'll be mailed a kit to send in a cheek swab sample. Here's some info on the need for registry members:

"On any given day, more than 6,000 men, women and children are searching the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry for a life-saving donor like you. These patients have leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases that can be treated by a bone marrow or cord blood transplant. For many of these patients, a transplant may be the best and only hope of a cure."

So please go to http://marrow.org/HELP/Events/NASCAR/index.html and look into joining the registry. It doesn't take much time or effort, and you may be able to save someone's life someday!
