We celebrate Pioneer Day in recognition of a very important pioneer: my first-born child! Caleb turned seven on July 24th. I really can't believe how "grown-up" he's getting. Usually we go up to visit extended family for the 24th, but this year we stayed close to home and had a fun weekend with our own little family.
Caleb got to have a little birthday party the day before his actual birthday. I wanted it to be very easy and low key, and it totally was. I was actually very proud of how simple I kept everything. Really, who needs fancy schmancy birthday parties when the simple ones are every bit as fun (and don't result in mom having a stressed-out breakdown)? One of Caleb's favorite things to do is go fishing, so we invited a few of his friends over for a fishing party. We started at home with an easy dinner (hot dogs, watermelon, and chips), followed by present opening.
Then we headed up to a nearby reservoir for fishing. Bill was such a trooper getting everyone set up with bait and bobbers and all that other fishing stuff that I'm clueless about. He basically took over the festivities while I sat around and read a magazine. Not too shabby for me! I think everyone managed to catch at least one little fish each. No whoppers, but I think they still had a fun time.

you're getting some great shots with your fancy camera Megan!
That is such a COOL idea for a children's triathalon! We should do that for our next primary day activity!!!
Love the fishing pole cupcakes.
Looks like Caleb had another great birthday.
PS thanks for the Sonic card!
love,

I can't believe your BABY is 7...I remember meeting the little guy at the bagel shop all those years ago. Looks like a super fun party and I love the cupcakes, you always have such great ideas.
