Random Happenings

There's not a lot going on in the Sivert family these days, just the usual school, work, and comings and goings of life. I'd like to say that we had a wonderful spiritually-uplifting Conference weekend where we listened intently to every talk, but with our rowdy kids we're lucky if we get much of anything out of Conference. Thank goodness for the ability to download the talks onto my iPod! I love that I can listen to them while I exercise or clean or drive in the car.

The big happening for this week is that I'm going to New York City! My brother Tyler is there editing his movie and he's subletting an apartment, so my sisters Erin and Amber and I cashed in our airline miles and we're going to crash on his couch for a few nights. As many of you know, I lived in NYC for a while after college, so I'm really looking forward to going back for a visit. When I lived there I didn't actually do many of the touristy things, but we're going to pack in as much as we possibly can during our short stay. Some of the planned activities include Broadway shows (we have tickets for Wicked and Mary Poppins), a temple session, museums, running in Central Park, shopping, eating, and a variety of tourist traps. I'm sure there will be a deluge of pictures to come. (And many thanks to my friends who are watching my kids while I'm gone!)

And since this wouldn't be a proper blog post without some pictures, here's a few shots of an apple-picking trip we took last weekend at a local orchard. We ended up with 75 pounds of apples, so that should keep me busy for a while!

Yay! NYC! Your old stomping grounds. Ever since I went there I've been trying to get back. I'd love to go with Bob because I think he'd love it. Well, have fun! (As I know you will!) Shelli

I always thought it was funny that the big New Yorker that you were is living in Blanding. Love it. I am so jealous that you are going back. Especially in the fall. You gals will be like the LDS version of Sex in the City. Have fun, and I want to see lots of pics.
