2. Drive around until you find a good tree. Fire up the Stihl and start taking that bad boy down.

3. While dad downs the tree, run around in the nearby meadow. Run through the fire pit whenever possible. Decide to make your own fire pit. Realize that making a fire pit is a whole lot easier than making fire.

4. Practice your paleontology skills by examining animal bones.
5. Once the tree is down, dance around on the remaining stump.
6. Start cutting up the downed tree. Decide the chainsaw isn't sharp enough. Pull out your handy portable sharpener and take care of it.
7. Leave dad with his cutting and go for a walk in the woods.
8. If you're feeling helpful, roll the cut pieces of wood down to the trailer. Realize that they'll roll a lot easier if the curved part is on the ground.
9. If you're not feeling helpful, lounge around on the cut wood, or turn it into an obstacle course.
10. With daylight quickly fading, help dad load the wood into the trailer.
11. Admire your load of wood, pile back into the truck, and make your way back home - dirty, tired, hungry, and happy.
12. Enjoy warm cozy fires all winter long.

What a man you got there....that was quite a tree you guys took home. Isn't it funny how some of the simpliest everyday things end up as the best family memories. Have a happy thanksgiving by the way!!
Hey, I thought that our husbands had plans to get wood together. I'm glad you're set for the winter though. It is a lot of fun to be out working together as a family.
Ginger - That was just a small portion of the wood we'll need this winter. I'm sure there will still be many chances for Bill and Steve to go out lumberjacking together!
That was so fun, Megan. Go, Bill!Bruce went and got firewood yesterday, but it was a lot easier than your experience. He went to one of the Physicians he works with who has a lot of wood on his property from the dead trees his cut down. No one wanted to go with him. When he got home Bryant and Sophie helped him carry it from the van to the wood pile. Ellie, Gracie,Janie and I just sat on the coach and watched. I wish we would have read your post sooner! It would have motivated it to be a family event. :)
i'm so glad you posted something new... I was getting really sick of looking at those fairies from NKOTB!
Your commentary was so funny. Thanks for taking the time to write something entertaining!
love you!
